Reminders for OFWs in
Kuwait
Make sure that you know the contact number and address of the Philippine
Embassy in Kuwait. You may contact and get in touch with the Embassy to be
familiar with the services they render to Filipinos there. Do this
immediately after arriving in Kuwait.
For any concerns you might have regarding your stay in Kuwait, whether it
be an abusive employer or unpaid salary, always contact the Philippine
embassy. Ask for assistance from the Embassy during times of distress. If
you are arrested for any reason in Kuwait, inform the Philippine Embassy
immediately.
For household service workers (HSWs), let the Embassy know if you are not
satisfied with your employer. Running away from the house of your employer
is prohibited in Kuwait.
You must always have a copy of the following documents everywhere you go:
passport, employment contract, and prove of residency or visa (e.g. civil
ID and iqama).
Do not let your passport and visa expires as it will make your stay in
Kuwait illegal. Each day of illegal stay in Kuwait has a corresponding
fine. Report to the Philippine Embassy if your visa and passport is about
to expire.
Fines:
For expired residence visa (visa 20 holder): KD 2 or Php 318.89 for each
day of illegal stay
For expired visit visa (visa 18 holder): KD 10 or Php 1594.44 for each day
of illegal stay
Report to the employment agency or to the Philippine embassy immediately
if you fail to receive compensation after working for two months straight.
Exercise caution and be meticulous when signing documents. Do not sign any
documents written in a foreign language or documents with contents you do
not understand.
Do not sign any document stating that you were compensated for your work
if you have not received any salary.
The visa of a skilled worker (excluding professional workers) can only be
transferred by another sponsor after one year.
Do not give/ entrust your salary to others or lend it to people you barely
know.
